Another Birthday Celebration for Evie!

Of course, we had to have another birthday celebration for Evelyn with our Kansas family!  This one included opening some very sweet gifts and eating angel food cake.  And I'm pretty sure that Evelyn enjoyed it just as much as the other parties.  Hopefully, she's not expecting anything this week, as birthday seasons can only last so long.

A Day in Kansas City

While Evie & I were in Kansas, we took a quick trip up to Kansas City to see some dear friends.  We went to Katherine's house to spend the day with her and Mae (who just turned 11 months old).  It was so much fun to see the girl's play together!  Then we headed over to have dinner and spend the evening with our friends Kelli & Justin and their two adorable kiddos (who were playing in the water when we arrived).  It was such a great day for Evie and I, as we do really miss our sweet friends in KC.

A Trip to Kansas

Evie and I had the opportunity to take a trip back to Kansas to visit my family in Chanute.  We had a great time together and it seemed like Evie really learned and grew a lot in getting to play and interact with everyone.  Every morning, after I got her up, she would crawl into the kitchen to smile at her Nanna, then head for the sliding glass doors to see what the dogs were doing outside.  Poppa hung up a swing for her on the porch, and she enjoyed that on a daily basis.  Evie also learned how to climb up on the dishwasher door all by herself to play with the silverware.  Here is a glimpse of all of the fun and silly moments we had:

Evelyn's First Birthday!

On her actual birthday, Evelyn got to have another small celebration with just Mommy & Daddy.  Which mostly consisted of eating another cupcake and opening a couple more presents.  Evelyn and I were leaving the next day on a trip to Kansas, so we wanted to make sure we got lots of time in with Daddy first.  Here are some more fun birthday photos.

Evelyn's 1st Birthday Party

For Evelyn's first birthday, we decided just to have a simple celebration at our home with Joe's family.  We ate dinner together, opened presents, and enjoyed some yummy carrot cake cupcakes.  It was Evelyn's first experience with a sugary treat, and we chose to make one of the cupcake recipes that we loved so much from our wedding three years ago.

Daddy's Day!

While we're still a couple of years away from gifts of colored macaroni glued to paper neckties, we wanted to really celebrate Father's Day this year in honor of Joe (who is already simply the most amazing dad ever). On Saturday night, we left Evelyn with our dear friends, Vicki & Ray & Gola, while we went to dinner at Fogo de Chao (one of Joe's favorites).  Sorry, no pics were taken on Saturday night, but let me assure you that we looked good.  After church on Sunday, we met Joe's sister Sylvanna and his niece Sophia for a late lunch.  Joe had a great time acting like a child playing with the girls.  Like her momma, Evelyn is such a lucky girl to have such a fun, thoughtful, and caring daddy in her life.  We love you, Joe!!
