Trick-or-Treating
This year, we just walked around our neighborhood to trick-or-treat. Unfortunately, there weren't that many neighbors handing out candy, but we did see a lot of other trick-or-treaters. And the kids still managed to get quite a bit of candy, and had a great time. After we headed home, we passed out candy for the next hour or two and got rid of all of our candy we had purchased. The kids LOVED passing out candy to kids, and fought over who could get to the door first. It was a really fun Halloween for all of us.
2016 Halloween Costumes
We had the cutest little superheroes this year! Henry LOVES Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, so he decided very early on that this was the costume for him. And we got super lucky and found a really good quality Buzz costume at Goodwill - score! Meanwhile, Evie decided that she wanted to be WordGirl, which is a PBS cartoon featuring a super hero girl who uses her vocabulary to fight crime. It's very cute. There are a couple of crappy, mass produced WordGirl costumes out there, but I decided to make her costume myself. It was a real challenge, but it turned out great. The kids both loved their costumes.

City of Tempe’s 39th annual Family Halloween Carnival
There are so many fun, mostly free, family events that happen this time of year, and we've been determined to make the most of them. Tonight there was a Halloween event in Tempe that we decided to check out. I didn't want the kids to mess up their actual Halloween costumes, so we improvised with some dress-up clothes we already had. The event was packed! But the kids had a blast in their costumes, and there were lots of carnival games to win free Halloween candy, and several bounce houses that the kids really enjoyed.

Family School Fall Festival
Every year, the Family School hosts a fall festival for the families to spend a fun evening together. We got to see some of the kids' artwork, eat pizza on the lawn, and carve pumpkins. The kids also got to decorate sugar cookies and get their faces painted. We missed out on getting photos this year because we had our hands full with both kids, but Joe was able to take a few cute pics of Henry. After we came home from our fun evening, we took a few minutes to snuggle on the couch and watch a show before bedtime.
