Bike Rental - Best Vacation Idea Ever!

Joe and I agree that this was probably our most favorite thing that we did while in Chicago.  I had found a Groupon for half-day bike rentals, and while it was really cold and windy, we had such a fantastic afternoon.  We started on Lake Shore Drive, rode out to the end of Navy Pier, decided to check out this "famous" hot dog stand near the Field Museum, then started working our way back, stopping at Buckingham Fountain, Millennium Park, and the beach.  We had both already seen most of these attractions before, so it was a really fun way to revisit them.  We think we rode about 10 miles that afternoon, and then we walked 4 miles back to our apartment (long walk-long story).  We'll definitely do it again!

Chicago!

So Joe and I were really blessed with an opportunity to sneak away to Chicago for a few days while my parents took great care of Evie for us.  It was so awesome!!!!!!!!!!  We had lots of amazing meals together, rented bikes, watched the Memorial Day Parade, took an architectural river boat tour, walked a ton every day, hopped a water taxi to China Town, checked out some great neighborhood coffee shops and boutique stores, and really enjoyed every minute of our precious time together.  We stayed in a cute apartment rental in the Wicker Park neighborhood, which was perfect.  Joe said that this trip really felt like a second honeymoon, and I have to agree.  Here are a few pics.

A Walk to the Creek

It had rained quite a bit before and during our stay in Kansas, so we took a walk after dinner one evening to check out the creek near my parents' house.  Evie had so much fun and I really loved these photos that I was able to take that evening.

Trip to Kansas

So Evie and I took a trip to see all of our Kansas family at the end of May.  We had a great time visiting with Evie's Nana & Papa, with Kristyn & Eric, and we even got to see Staci & Jonathan while we were there.  Evie had a fabulous time playing with her cousin, Wyatt, who is almost one now and so cute.  We took some walks down quiet country roads, and played outside as much as possible.  Evie loved feeding the neighbor's horse a carrot almost every day, and the dogs were given many treats (even some cinder rocks on one occasion in her enthusiasm to feed the animals).  The weather was so nice, cool and a little rainy, and everything was so green and beautiful.  We had a great time!!!

Breakfast Together

Truth be told, Evie was really being a pistol that morning.  But we've got these cute photos now so that in the future we can remember it differently.  ;)

The Children's Museum

Our friends Vicki and Gola Wren invited us to join them at the Children's Museum.  It was our first visit, and Evie loved it!!!  She loved scooping dry beans so much that we're considering a membership.
