Evelyn's First Halloween Costume

So, last year was Evie's first Halloween, but we opted not to do a costume. (Much to Joe's later sentimental regret). This year, we decided on a cotton candy costume, because well, it's fun. No, I did not come up with this idea, I saw it somewhere else. However, I did make it, and it is much better than the one I saw online which recommended hot-gluing the tulle to a leotard (wha?). Anyway, I'm not sure if Evie really enjoyed it all that much, but it looked pretty darn cute on her and so Joe and I thoroughly enjoyed it. (More photos of our trick-or-treating night to follow).

The Great Pumpkin Festival

This weekend, we had the pleasure of watching our niece, Sophia, so that her parents could celebrate their 5-year wedding anniversary.  We decided to take the girls to the Pumpkin Festival at the Desert Botanical Gardens, and were thrilled that our friends Vicki & Ray and their daughter Gola Wren could join us.  It was so much fun and we loved watching the girls have a great time together.

New Shoes!

Evie has been walking for a couple of weeks now.  (We're sorry that we don't have any videos of her taking her first steps).  Today, we bought her first pair of real shoes.  And she loves them!  And now she wants to walk everywhere.

Evie Loves Necklaces

Evie will walk into our bedroom now, and point to my necklaces that are hanging on the wall.  And she'll say "Puuuur", which to her is "Purse".  She has even taken to putting them over her head on her own.  It's adorable, right up until she breaks one of them.  But come on, so cute, right?

A New Toy for Evie!

This week, we received a wonderful new gift for Evie.  Uncle Kevin & Aunt Sabrina sent her a ride-on toy that is so awesome.  It's a convertible!  The seat flips over to make a basket that she can push her stuff around in it, and is big enough that she can even sit or kneel in it.  Evie's feet can't quite reach the floor just yet, but she's already having so much fun with it, and we find new ways to use it all the time.  Also, this toy moves really fast on our concrete floors!

Desert Botanical Garden with Staci

While my family was in town from Kansas, Evie and I had the opportunity to take Staci to the Desert Botanical Gardens.  It was hot, but still a lot of fun, and we got to see their Butterfly Exhibit.
